Chelsea's Marco van Ginkel out for nine months with knee injury
CHELSEA youngster Marco van Ginkel faces nine months on the sidelines after tearing his anterior cruciate ligament against Swindon.
The youngster, who only joined from Vitesse Arnheim in the summer, stumbled ten minutes into the Capital One Cup clash against the Robins, and while he tried to continue had to be replaced moments later by Ramires.
According to De Telegraaf, van Ginkel has had an MRI which confirms that the winger has torn his anterior cruciate ligament.
The player will undergo surgery in the coming days and will then begin a nine-month period of rehabilitation.
The diagnosis means he will almost certainly miss the remainder of the season, and is unlikely to make the Dutch squad for next summer's World Cup.
