Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand: We will move on from Real Madrid defeat
MANCHESTER UNITED defender Rio Ferdinand insists morale is good in the camp as they going into their opening Champions League group game against Bayer Leverkusen.
United controversially exited Europe's elite competition at the last-16 stage last season and are ready to put that devastating defeat to the back of their minds.
The Red Devils warmed up for tomorrow's clash with the German outfit with a 2-0 win against Crystal Palace.
Speaking at a news conference on the eve of the game, Ferdinand said: "We were all disappointed, but we'll start afresh this season.
"New group, new season, new games.
"Last season is out of our minds and not something we need to use as motivation."
David Moyes, who will be embarking on his first European adventure with United, said: "Every game offers a new challenge. I'm looking forward to it".
"We've got a leading team from Germany and Spain to play, and have to go to Donetsk to play Shakhtar. It's a tough group."
