Tottenham star Erik Lamela's brother kidnapped on eve of Norwich game
TOTTENHAM star Erik Lamela faced a scare on Friday night ahead of his debut against Norwich when his brother Axel was reportedly kidnapped by armed carjackers in Buenos Aires.
His younger sibling was reportedly held for ransom after being taken at gunpoint from his BMW in their nation's capital, with the kidnappers using the 18-year-old's phone to demand a ransom of 5,000 pesos (£550).
Axel is believed to have been targeted because of the car he was driving, and wasn't connected to his brother's role as a footballer in the Premier League.
Erik and Axel's older brother Brian Lamela said: "They told us to get the ransom money and make sure the police were not involved. They came to our front door to collect the money.
"They did not cover their faces and the security cameras at our house recorded them.
My brother is calm. All of us think it was a random incident
"My brother is calm. All of us think it was a random incident - they simply kidnapped him for the car and nothing else."
The 21-year-old Argentine international did feature for Spurs against on Saturday, coming off the bench late during the club's 2-0 win over the Canaries.
