Liverpool icon Ian Rush says it would be great if Luis Suarez was benched
LIVERPOOL icon Ian Rush is hoping Luis Suarez will be on the bench when he returns to action for the club.
The Uruguyan still has two games to serve of a 10-match ban for biting Chelsea's Branislav Ivanovic last season during a Premier League game.
Suarez is expected to return in time for Liverpool's Capital One Cup clash against Manchester United, but hasn't been missed so far as the Reds have made an unbeaten start to their domestic campaign winning all three of their three league games so far.
Rush believes teams will run scared when Suarez returns and in an 'ideal world' it would be great to see him benched.
"For me, in an ideal world, after six games [of the season] when Suarez is back, I’d love to see him left out because that would mean the team is winning and he has to fight for his place," Rush told talkSPORT.
"There’s no doubt Suarez will get back in, but what a sight that would be for the opposition if Liverpool are not playing well and they see Suarez coming on.
"We’re looking forward to that."
