Roy Hodgson has decided to put his faith in the youngsters by calling them up for the senior squad on Friday against Moldova.
Townsend and Barkley got their first senior call-ups last week and Walcott thinks it's paramount that the youngsters are given a chance to shine.
"I came in at such a young age, and scored a hat-trick against Croatia, so anyone could come in and do that against Moldova or Ukraine," he said.

"We have a good balance between young and experienced players now and we are starting to show that when we play at Wembley.
“I think it is very important to get to know the players and staff and the way it is set-up here. It only helps you when you go to tournaments.”
