Liverpool star Daniel Agger snubs Barcelona
LIVERPOOL defender Daniel Agger says he would not consider a move to Barcelona – and does not care if his club fail to finish in the top four.
Liverpool rebuffed an approach from the Catalan club, with Dane Agger saying: “Barcelona are a big club, but I have never thought about leaving Liverpool – unless they want to sell .
“Everyone at the club is an integral part of my life. I have a You’ll Never Walk Alone tattoo. I don’t mind if we don’t finish in the top four. I love the club.”
Martin Kelly, meanwhile, is hoping to give Liverpool a timely defensive lift after stepping up his comeback from a cruciate injury.
Kelly was sidelined last season but, after playing for the club’s Under-21s this week, he believes he is closing in on a senior comeback
“In the next six to eight weeks I should get back to that fitness,” he said . “I missed so much last season and it is difficult mentally coming back from 11 months out .”
This return for Kelly is a timely boost for manager Brendan Rodgers because his team are set to be without central defender Sebastian Coates, who faces a lengthy absence with a similar injury.
Coates must undergo surgery this week after tearing a knee ligament while playing for Uruguay against Japan in a friendly.
