Sunderland 0 - Fulham 1: Dominant Black Cats fall to Pajtim Kasami strike
PAJTIM KASAMI got Paolo Di Canio's Sunderland revolution off to a bad start by scoring his first Fulham goal to give Martin Jol's men all three points against a dominant Black Cats side.
Sunderland were the better team on the day but couldn't put the finishes touches on a promising performance.
Instead, it was Kasami who scored the only goal of the game with a header from close range after Sunderland's defense were caught napping on a corner midway through the second half.
Sunderland, fielding five debutants after a busy summer in the transfer market, did have their chances with Ondrej Celustka, in particular, forcing a great save from Fulham keeper Maarten Stekelenburg.
Ji Dong-Won then had a fantastic chance to earn Sunderland what would have been a deserved draw but headed wide a cross from Adam Johnson in the final minute to see Martin Jol's men leave the Stadium of Light with all three points.
