Manchester City Matija Nastasic to miss start of season with ankle injury
MANCHESTER CITY have been dealt a blow ahead of the start of the new Premier League season after Matija Nastasic was ruled out for up to six weeks with an ankle injury.
The 20-year-old Serbian was carried off on a stretcher after sustaining the injury in last month's Barclays Asia Trophy final against Sunderland in Hong Kong.
Nastasic had made an impression since joining from Fiorentina last summer but his absence could pave the way for Joleon Lescott to reprise his title-winning defensive partnership with Vincent Kompany.
Meanwhile, City fans will welcome the news that Sergio Aguero could be back training by the end of the week.
The Argentine is nursing a knee injury and is yet to play for City in pre-season.
His last appearance for City was during a 5-3 win over Chelsea at the Yankee Stadium in New York at the end of May.
