Newcastle United close to finalising Loic Remy loan move
NEWCASTLE UNITED are close to finalising a loan move for QPR striker Loic Remy, who has headed to Tyneside for a medical.
The Frenchman was jettisoned from the QPR squad at the weekend, as the Hoops beat Sheffield Wednesday 2-1 on the opening day of the Championship season.
Joe Kinnear is under pressure to help Alan Pardew deliver in the transfer market, but Remy, who scored six goals in 14 appearances for QPR.
Newcastle are keen to shore up their attacking options and have agreed an £8.7m fee for the Lyon forward despite there being a dispute over agents' fees.
Kinnear is confident a deal can be reached for Remy within the next 48 hours.
"Yeah I think very much, so I would like to think we are very, very close to agreeing that," Kinnear told Sky Sports.
"I would think maybe Monday or Tuesday we will be a position to say yea or nay, but I am very happy about how that deal is going at the moment."
Their pursuit of Darren Bent appears less straightforward however with Fulham also in the chase for the Aston Villa striker.
And the Magpies' chances of landing Andre-Pierre Gignac appear remote, with the Marseille striker downplaying rumours of a move.
