Man United to launch £26m bid for Claudio Marchisio as they face Cesc Fabregas battle
MANCHESTER UNITED are set to ramp up their interest in Claudio Marchisio by readying a £26m bid for him.
The Juventus midfielder has never been too far away from United's thoughts, although the Juventus director general Beppe Marotta denied the Serie A champions would let him leave this summer.
"Juventus have never thought about selling Marchisio. Not now, not ever," Maratta recently told Italian website calciomercato.com
United are in the throes of lining up a third bid for Cesc Fabregas, which would exceed the club record bid of £30.8m they made to bring Dimitar Berbatov to the club from Spurs.
David Moyes has failed to land his top midfield targets this summer, and has also been weighing up move for Luka Modric and Yohan Cabaye.
Italian paper Corriere dello Sport has it that United are keen on Marchisio and aren't going to give up the chase.
Though Juve are thought to be keen to keep hold of Marchisio, United are ready to put their money where their mouth is and make a move.
Marchiso chipped in with eight goals for Juve last season.
