Chelsea to up the ante for Real Madrid's Fabio Coentrao
CHELSEA are set to step up their interest in Real Madrid left-back Fabio Coentrao.
The Portuguese could spark an exodus of players leaving the Bernebeu in the summer, and has already been linked with a move to Juventus.
With Jose Mourinho primed for a return to Stamford Bridge in the summer, he is expected to take a number of players with him including Raphael Varane and Sergio Ramos, who has already been taking English lessons.
And it seems Chelsea could be a viable option for Coentrao according to reports in Spain.
Marca has it that Coentrao is viewed as a natural successor to Ashley Cole, whose contract runs up next summer.
Real Madrid as they go on to indicate, have set a £15.4m asking price for Coentrao which shouldn't be prohibitive for the Europa League winners.
Despite his wavering performance levels, Coentrao clocke dup 31 appearances for Real this season.
