Jurgen Klopp confident of warding off Manchester United interest for Robert Lewandowski
BORUSSIA DORTMUND coach Jurgen Klopp remains optimistic that his hit man Robert Lewandowski won't leave in the summer.
Lewandowski, who saw his stock rise further a four-goal salvo against Real Madrid in the Champions League semi-final has been continually linked with moves to Manchester United and Bayern Munich.
The Bundesliga champions were originally given a 10-day deadline to sign him, and if that passed United could have a free run at him.
United are planning to rebuild their title-winning squad and Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez have been tipped for the Old Trafford exit.
However, Klopp has quashed talk of Lewandowski leaving.
"There is no topic of Lewandowski's transfer right now," Klopp recently told Polish publication Przeglad Sportowy.
"The rest of the team and I talk and think only about the final right now.
"My conclusion is that Robert is not leaving Borussia, and he will play here for the next season and I will be able to use him. That is why I don't want to even think about to which club he may fit better."
Dortmund, who are competing in their first Champions League final since 1997, have been dealt a major blow as Mario Gotze is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
