Crystal Palace 3 - Peterborough 2: Kevin Phillips sends Posh down
DARREN FERGUSON was left cursing Kevin Phillips after the veteran hitman helped relegate Posh from the Championship with a record number of points.
Peterborough were coasting at 2-1 up with seven minutes left on the clock until sub Phillips slammed home a classic poacher’s goal to equalise, before Mile Jedinak won it late on for the Eagles.
Ferguson said: “The only person you don’t want the ball to fall to is Kevin Phillips because he’s a born goalscorer.”
The win ended Palace’s nine-match wait for a win ahead of the play-off semi-finals. And boss Ian Holloway said: “We’ve come through it now and I think we’ll be stronger for that against Brighton.”
