Terry Butcher blasts stay-away Inverness fans
FED-UP Inverness manager Terry Butcher has seriously questioned the loyalty of fans in the Highland capital after only 2,529 turned out at Caledonian Stadium for the midweek draw with Kilmarnock.
A combination of freezing cold weather and hazardous driving conditions combined with the counter-attraction of the Real Madrid-Manchester United
Champions League clash live on TV undoubtedly impacted on the crowd.
But despite lying second in the SPL and being on the cusp of bringing European football to the Highlands, Caley Thistle’s average attendance is below that of local rivals Ross County, who draw their hardcore support from a population of less than 6,000.
Butcher, understood to have been involved in an angry exchange with a fan at the end of the match, said: “Does this city deserve a football team like we’ve got? I don’t honestly know.

“I know it is difficult weather, but we played some of our best football of the season and we can’t do any more than be second in the table.”
