Ben Foster’s dream is to deny Robin Van Persie
GOALKEEPER Ben Foster is aiming to defy his dream striker Robin Van Persie and shock Manchester United.
Van Persie is in Foster’s fantasy dream team but he needs to have a quiet game if West Brom are to land a shock win at Old Trafford.
The Baggies have already surprised many by climbing as high as third in the Premier League this season and are now in sixth and fighting for a Champions League berth. “Van Persie is one of the top strikers in the world and it’s a dream come true for the fans to have him,” said former United keeper Foster.
“Van Persie is in everybody’s dream team, isn’t he? He’s definitely in mine. When United really play well with their best attacking team, it’s a frightening thing to come up against.”
Albion’s good run stalled when they lost three successive games but they recovered with a three-match unbeaten run that included successive wins against Norwich and QPR.

“It’s a sign of a really resilient group of players,” said assistant manager Keith Downing, standing in yesterday for boss Steve Clarke who was ill.
“I don’t think we’ve played to the standards we showed earlier but as the season has gone on there has been a bit more respect for us and we’ve had more difficulty, particularly at home, breaking teams down.
“Sir Alex Ferguson has mentioned his main cause for concern is the goals United have conceded, so there is an opportunity for us to play with freedom. Hopefully, we can give them a few problems.
“We have surprised a few people with our position in the table but I don’t think we’ve surprised ourselves, and 33 points at the halfway stage is a fantastic return for a club like us.”
