Carlos Tevez still the reluctant pupil
DESPITE having now played in the Premier League for more than six years, it’s surprising that Carlos Tevez still needs an interpreter when addressing the media.
Or maybe not, when you discover that the Argentinian used to duck English lessons when he first joined West Ham. Tevez arrived at Upton Park at the same time as his South American counterpart Javier Mascherano. While Mascherano demanded extra English lessons, often in the evening before games when he was stuck in a hotel, Tevez wasn’t so accommodating.
It means Mascherano, now at Barcelona, speaks English fluently while Man City star Tevez still costs his club an interpreter’s fee when he is on official media duty.
