Gordon Strachan favourite to take over as Scotland boss
FORMER Southampton manager and Manchester United midfielder Gordon Strachan was last night made favourite to become the new Scotland manager after Craig Levein paid the price for a poor start to their World Cup qualifying campaign.
He was sacked after nearly three years in the job having won only three of 12 games in charge leaving his side bottom of their group.
Scotland Under-21 coach Billy Stark will take temporary charge.
His first task is to name a squad for next Wednesday’s friendly in Luxembourg.
Strachan was 5-4 on to take over the job, with Alex McLeish, Owen Coyle, Joe Jordan and Walter Smith all in the frame.
