Charlton crowned
CHRIS POWELL was in celebratory mood for the second week running as Charlton were crowned champions with a 2-1 victory over Wycombe.
Following on from their promotion last week, the Addicks claimed the title courtesy of their win and Sheffield United’s defeat at MK Dons .
“It’s a great feeling for us,” said Charlton boss Powell.
Stevenage boss Gary Smith was happy to have Lady Luck on his side as Brentford missed two penalties.
Second-half strikes from Craig Reid and Luke Freeman – following spot-kick failures from Clayton Donaldson and Sam Saunders – thrust Stevenage into the play-off places.
“The nerves are frayed,” said Smith.
Walsall missed out on a chance to move six points clear of the relegation zone as they lost 4-2 at Exeter, who are five points adrift of safety .
