THERE is some merit to the idea Fabio Capello should be stood down after the Montenegro game and a new manager brought in for Euro 2012, even if England qualify.
FA chairman David Bernstein says they have not yet begun the search for Fabio Capello's successor
Initially, I thought it might be right for the FA to shake Capello by the hand and bring Harry Redknapp or somebody else straight in. Yet we talk about players needing tournament experience, but what about managers? So on that basis, I have reversed my opinion and believe that with the bad experience of the World Cup in South Africa behind him Capello should take charge at the Euros.
That does, however, mean Redknapp, or whoever replaces Capello, will face the hardest job in the world. FA chairman David Bernstein says they have not yet begun the search for a successor but I just hope the FA give him a guaranteed four-year reign and do not let him announce his retirement before he actually leaves.
