Steve Kean for charity
CREDIT to Blackburn’s altruism in deciding, in their own words, “to reject some commercial sponsorship offers in order to grasp the special partnership opportunity” and have the Prince’s Trust logo on their shirts.
Yet when former sponsors Crown announced in February they would not be renewing their deal, commercial director Simon Williams said: “We have pursued a successor across global markets.”
And just four weeks ago, a club statement said: “BRFC management are exploring various options and discussing with some of the potential sponsors, including reputed companies in India.”
With manager Steve Kean quiet in the transfer market, who else thinks that charity began only when the dearth of any major offers hit home 48 hours before the start of the season?
