And the Daily Express understands Wolves winger Matt Jarvis is also part of the 30-man party that will be cut down when the final squad for next Wednesday’s friendly against France is named tonight. Bothroyd and Jarvis are likely to miss out when Capello trims down his numbers, but his decision shows he is considering different options.

Capello is expected to call up a number of youngsters, including Newcastle striker Andy Carroll, Sunderland midfielder Jordan Henderson, Blackburn defender Phil Jones and Chelsea’s Daniel Sturridge. Bothroyd has scored 13 goals in 15 games and Jones said: “We hope he will still be in the squad when it is trimmed down.”
