Maguire excited to welcome Ronaldo back to Man Utd
Nemanja Matic's powers may have waned but until Manchester United sign an adequate replacement for the Serbian international, his experienced and mettle in the middle of the park will continue to be of use to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The former Chelsea man was signed by Jose Mourinho in the summer of 2017 in a bid to provide the back four with an extra layer of protection.
Adidas and Manchester United have launched their official 2021/22 home jersey, putting a modern twist on their classic club styles.
Matic, to his credit, has generally done a respectable job over the years but after four years at Old Trafford, his influence on this United side has declined.
Yet United still miss a midfield enforcer of his ilk, somebody who can nullify the opposition and stamp their mark over the game.
In recent times, United have looked a soft touch with Fred and Scott McTominay in the middle of the park.
While both have made strides under Solskjaer, there is still concern as to whether both are good enough to elevate United to greater heights.

As of February earlier this year, Leicester had lost just one of the 11 Premier League matches Ndidi had featured in last season.

Yet the Foxes had lost five of the 10 matches where he was absent, highlighting his importance to Rodgers and his team-mates.
Those defeats would ultimately prove costly come the end of the season as Leicester missed out on the top-four on the final day for the second consecutive campaign.
Solskjaer is said to be looking for a passer in midfield and while that isn't Ndidi speciality, he does kill two birds with one stone.
Firstly, he is the holding midfielder that United are longing for, particularly when replacing Matic is concerned.

But furthermore, the Norwegian also wants his two central midfielders to be capable of playing box-to-box, like Fred and McTominay.
Ndidi has the tools to do both and for that reason, he is the perfect addition for United when the time is right.
Transfermarkt currently value that Nigerian at £54m and although central midfield is not currently of priority to United, it's likely to be next on their shopping list.
Next summer could be the ideal time to strike and United would then have all the tools to compete for the biggest prizes in club football once again, should they not already...
