Martin a firm favourite
MARTIN O’Neill would back moves for Celtic and Rangers to join the Premier League.
The Old Firm have hinted they are keen to join the English top flight – a plan Aston Villa boss O’Neill supported when he was in charge of Celtic.
O’Neill said: “I’d be in favour and it would be beneficial to the Premier League as it would make it stronger.
“From the supporters’ point of view it would be terrific and I think, in time, those two clubs would be massive in the British game.”
Wolves boss Mick McCarthy agrees the Old Firm would be a big draw, but can’t see Premier League clubs sanctioning the move.
The former Celtic defender said: “If they come down, two teams here would miss out on getting into the Champions League so as far as I am concerned there is a snowball in hell’s chance of it happening.”
