Liverpool: Andy Gray slams players for 7-2 loss to Aston Villa
Marko Grujic's proposed loan move to Werder Bremen is now off, according to reports. The Serbian international was poised to move back to the Bundesliga on a temporary deal but that has now collapsed with just hours of the window remaining.
Grujic has spent the past two seasons on loan at Hertha Berlin, where his performances received rave reviews.
The 24-year-old has featured in recent Carabao Cup matches against Lincoln and Arsenal but he is still unlikely to receive first-team opportunities at Anfield.
He finds himself ninth in the pecking order when it comes to central midfielders behind Jordan Henderson, Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum, Thiago Alcantara, Naby Keita, James Milner, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Curtis Jones.
Jurgen Klopp was keen to put Grujic in the shop window by giving him minutes and he has attracted interest from several Premier League clubs.

Liverpool were looking for closer to the £20m mark but the valuation appears to have scared the Clarets off.
Xherdan Shaqiri also looks set to stay at Liverpool with Grujic and Wilson.
The Swiss was left out of the squad to face Arsenal last week due to interest from two clubs.
However, no deal has materialised as of yet meaning Shaqiri could still have a part to play for the Reds.

The former Stoke man fired in a stunning free-kick in the 7-2 win at Lincoln and fans were optimistic he would be staying put under instruction from Klopp.
Liverpool have always been open to a sale knowing that any deal was likely to see them profit on the £13.5m paid to Stoke in 2018.
Sevilla and Roma wanted to sign Shaqiri in January but were told no by Klopp.
Liverpool are in need of some additional cover in attack following Rhian Brewster's £23m move to Sheffield Utd.
