Man Utd may have called off Bruno Fernandes pursuit because of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer
Manchester United had wanted to sign Bruno Fernandes but Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's current fortunes may have influenced their decision to scrap any potential transfer deal.
Man United are going to miss out on Bruno Fernandes says pundit
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer demanded the signing of Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon earlier this month. Having missed out on Erling Haaland, the Norweigan was adamant the Portugal international had to be signed. However, with his side struggling, Joel Glazer has now decided to walk away.
Manchester United have pulled out of the race to sign Fernandes, despite spending weeks trying to sign the Sporting Lisbon star.
The Red Devils had u-turned at the start of the month, deciding to pursue the 25-year-old after saying in the summer that they weren't interested.
Solskjaer, unwilling to wait until the end of the season for James Maddison or Jack Grealish, believed the 25-year-old was needed to help transform the club's fortunes.
But, now, the transfer doesn't look like it will happen.
United have walked away on the orders of Glazer, who has uncharacteristically stepped in to intervene.
The American reportedly doesn't think Fernandes is worth the money that Sporting are asking. He also has concerns over the structure of any deal.
