Man City told what they need to do to beat Liverpool to the Premier League title
Manchester City have been told what they need to do to catch Liverpool in the Premier League title race.
Man City need to be 'perfect' to catch Liverpool says pundit
Manchester City have to be “perfect” from here on if they are to catch Premier League leaders Liverpool.
That’s the opinion of ESPN pundit Alejandro Moreno.
Manchester City battled back from behind to beat Chelsea 2-1 at the Etihad on Saturday.
The Citizens went a goal down after N’Golo Kante’s neat finish 20 minutes into the game.
But Kevin de Bruyne’s equaliser eight minutes later was followed up by Riyad Mahrez’s winner just before half-time.
City jumped into third with the victory, and now sit nine points behind Jurgen Klopp’s reds.
Earlier on Saturday, Liverpool had extended their lead at the top of the table thanks to an impressive win over Crystal Palace.
The Reds went ahead just after half time through Sadio Mane, before Wilfried Zaha levelled the game with eight minutes to play.
Any fears from Liverpool fans that they would drop points were squashed just minutes later, though.
Roberto Firmino stabbed home from close range after some pinball inside the area after a corner.
The Brazilian waited patiently for the ball to fall to him, and took his chance brilliantly as he fired into the opposing bottom corner.
Liverpool remain unbeaten at the top of the table, and it seems it is their title to lose at the moment.
And Moreno explained on ESPN FC that he believes Pep Guardiola’s City will have to be “perfect” throughout the rest of the campaign if they are to catch Liverpool, whilst criticising the manner of their win over Chelsea.
“For both teams, it was poor in the second half,” he said.
“In regards to turnovers and the decisions in the second half, Manchester City won, but not convincingly.
“They didn’t win in the way they should have.
“They have to be perfect from here on out if they’re to have any chance of catching Liverpool.”
