Michael Owen predicts Bournemouth vs Man Utd
Manchester United will struggle against Bournemouth on Saturday (12.30pm), and will be forced to settle for a point, claimed former Red Devil Michael Owen.
“United have built on their hard-earned point against Liverpool with away wins against Partizan Belgrade in the Europa League, Norwich City in the Premier League, [and Chelsea in the Carabao Cup]," he told BetVictor.
“Four away games in nine games is likely to take its toll, however, and I think Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side will have to settle for a point in Saturday’s early kick-off at the Vitality Stadium.
“Bournemouth have failed to score in their last three league games, but I expect it to be honours even on the south coast.”
Erling Haaland bid
Juventus are set to make the first move in the battle to sign Erling Haaland.
The RB Salzburg star has racked up 21 goals in 14 matches for the Austrian club, including six goals in three Champions League fixtures.
And his exploits have seen several European giants including Real Madrid, Manchester City and Manchester United linked with his signature.
However, Gazzetta dello Sport claim Juventus have entered the race and are preparing a £35million offer.
Man Utd make Jadon Sancho top transfer target
Manchester United have made Jadon Sancho their top priority, reports have claimed.
The England international is one of the hottest prospects in world football following his stunning breakthrough season with Borussia Dortmund last term.
That’s captured the attention of Manchester United, who see Sancho as the ideal fit to become a leading figure in their rebuild under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And according to German football journalist Raphael Honigstein, they are already planning another move for the winger. But they are not alone.
“Everyone's interested in Sancho,” Honigstein said in a Q&A for The Athletic.
“Man Utd seem to have made him a priority but LFC will think carefully about him as well, I'm sure.”
Jose Mourinho’s stance on Brandon Williams
Jose Mourinho was close to bringing Brandon Williams on pre-season tour with Manchester United last season.
Mourinho earmarked the teenager as a future first-team player midway through his reign at Old Trafford after keeping tabs on the youth sides.
According to Manchester Evening News, he gave “serious consideration” to bringing Williams to USA in his third and final pre-season preparations at United.
That trip turned out to be the beginning of the end for Mourinho at United but the divisive Portuguese was proved right in his assessment of Williams just one day before he was sacked.
Williams captained the Under-18s as they dramatically knocked out FA Youth Cup holders Chelsea in the competition the day before Ed Woodward dismissed Mourinho.
Chris Smalling latest
Manchester United have told Roma they will demand €20million [£17.22m] for Chris Smalling.
That’s according to reports in Italy.
Smalling surprised many football fans earlier this season when he swapped the bench at Old Trafford for the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.
After being left out of United’s first three games of the Premier League season, he was deemed to be surplus to requirements by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
As a result, he was placed on the transfer list, only for no teams to make any concrete bids before the end of the transfer window.
Glazers to sell?
Manchester United’s owners, the Glazer family, will reportedly only sell the club if they receive a massive financial offer in the region of £4billion.
The Red Devils’ supremos have been tipped to sell up with talk of a mega-money Saudi Arabia takeover from Mohammed bin Salman refusing to die down.
Manchester United chief Richard Arnold has been pictured in the Middle East this week, posing with officials who even gave him his own Saudi jersey.
The Athletic say it’s currently unknown where the potential takeover is at amid all the speculation.
But it’s claimed they would only sell for a huge amount, potentially exceeding £4billion.
Bruno Fernandes turns down contract
Manchester United can sign Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon in January after the midfielder turned down an offer of a new contract, reports say.
The Portugal international was heavily linked with a move to Old Trafford throughout the summer after flourishing last season.
Manchester United always denied their interest. Express Sport understands they grew tired of the constant links and believed their name being mentioned was solely because of their financial might.
Yet that hasn’t stopped A Bola from saying that United ARE interested in the midfielder.
And they now have a path to sign the player in January.
Negotiations between Fernandes and Sporting are currently at an impasse and, with the player in-demand, Sporting may cash in.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic contact made
Manchester United have made ‘small contact’ with Zlatan Ibrahimovic over a proposed move to Old Trafford.
That’s according to Tuttomercatoweb who claim Napoli, Bologna and Inter Milan are also interested.
LA Galaxy have also offer Ibrahimovic a new deal but the striker is interested in returning to a top European league.
United are short on attacking options with Marcus Rashford, Anthony Martial and Mason Greenwood their only forwards.
