Arsenal plot William Saliba revenge on Tottenham as Unai Emery plans to hijack new deal
ARSENAL may be about to get their own back on Tottenham, who hijacked their transfer for William Saliba earlier this week.
Tottenham target Nicolo Zaniolo scores incredible chip
Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino is finally received backing in the market from chairman Daniel Levy as they look to build on reaching last season’s Champions League final.
Having already completed a club record deal for Tanguy Ndombele as well as signing Jack Clarke, it looks as if Spurs have turned their attentions back to France.
Arsenal were on the verge of completing the signing of St Etienne defender William Saliba, before Tottenham swooped in to give the defender a decision to make.
Now it look as if Unai Emery could give Tottenham a taste of their own medicine.
According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Arsenal are now reportedly ready to rival their north London rivals in the race for Nicolo Zaniolo.
Tottenham were believed to be leading the race to sign him alongside Juventus, however the Gunners are now prepared to match any offers on the table.
The young Italian does not have his heart set on leaving Roma, meaning he could well stay in Serie A for at least another year.
Zaniolo’s agent Claudio Vigorelli revealed no clubs are yet to make an official move for his client.
"To date, as far as we are concerned, no negotiations are underway with any international or Italian club,” he told Calciomercato.
Roma are thought to be interested in Toby Alderweireld, meaning they make ask for the Belgian to be included in a move for the 20-year-old.
It appears that a new contract is more likely than an exit from the Stadio Olimpico.
"We have heard a lot about Zaniolo, Roma and his contract in recent weeks,” Vigorelli added.
"Given the media attention to which Nicolo was subjected at national and international level, it is important to make some clarifications.
"Nicolo is a heritage of Roma who believed in his talent first and foremost.
"This is why it is essential to build together the most suitable path to enhance it and continue the extraordinary growth path also in the next season."
The star joined Roma from Inter Milan last summer as part of a swap deal which saw Radja Nainggolan head to the San Siro.
