Lionel Messi: Chelsea star Eden Hazard is the 'Messi of tomorrow' - Kevin Keegan
CHELSEA star Eden Hazard is ‘almost’ at the level of Barcelona’s Lionel Messi as the Belgian prepares for a move to Real Madrid this summer.
That’s according to English football legend Kevin Keegan.
Eden Hazard has been compared to the likes of Messi and the Argentine’s rival Cristiano Ronaldo for years.
The Chelsea forward hasn’t quite managed to reach the goal-scoring numbers that Messi and Ronaldo obtain every year, however.
Hazard has has almost undoubtedly been Chelsea’s standout player of the past few seasons and played an instrumental role in both their Premier League title wins in 2015 and 2017.
But the 28-year-old has been linked with a big-money move to Real Madrid this season and looks like he could be off in the summer.
And Keegan, who was speaking to the BBC, is confident Messi can reach the level of Messi in the coming years.
“I think Eden Hazard is the best player, 100 per-cent,” he said.
“He’s the Lionel Messi of tomorrow and he’s almost there now.”
Keegan went on to note that Messi can become Real’s key player over the next few seasons, starting a ‘revival’ at the Spanish giants.
“I think he will leave Chelsea and probably go to start the revival at Real Madrid,” he added.
“He’s still young, can change a game and is the one player who really gets me off my seat.
“When he picks it up, he can go past two or three players and I’d have him above all of the others.”
Hazard can potentially win his final trophy at Stamford Bridge with a win over Arsenal in the Europa League final on Wednesday, May 29.
Hazard has been involved in 31 goals for Chelsea this season in the Premier League with 16 goals and 15 assists.
Chelsea have already secured a top four position this term, meaning that they will be involved in next season’s Champions League.
