Man Utd star David De Gea TROLLED with EMBARRASSING Liverpool comparison
DAVID DE GEA found himself on the receiving end of a brutal trolling following his Champions League howler against Barcelona.
David de Gea had a night to forget in Manchester United’s Champions League quarter-final second leg against the Spanish champions, which they lost 3-0.
The normally-reliable goalkeeper was at fault for Lionel Messi’s second goal of the game, which came from a tame shot that squeezed under his body.
De Gea’s clanger immediately saw him become the butt of several jokes on social media.
And his latest error saw him draw comparisons to Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius.
One match watcher wrote: “De Gea just pulled a Karius against Messi.”
Another said: “David De Gea makes yet another mistake leading to a goal in a huge match.
“Yet he is the best keeper in the world! Spanish Karius.”
Alongside a picture of De Gea and Karius shaking hands, one Twitter user wrote: “It seems Karius transferred his powers to De Gea with that handshake eh?”
De Gea should be transferred to Besiktas this summer like Karius was last summer
One frustrated Liverpool fan said: “Karius took us to the #UCL final, so put some respect to his name.
“Don’t dare reduce him to the level of De Gea who can’t even make it to through Quarters.”
“Unpopular opinion De Gea is just an overrated Loris Karius,” said one fan.
One irate United supporter even demanded the club sell De Gea, who is currently stalling on signing a new contract.
They wrote: “De Gea should be transferred to Besiktas this summer like Karius was last summer.”
Defeat at the Nou Camp saw United lose the tie 4-0 on aggregate and miss out on their first Champions League semi-final in eight years.
Barcelona will now play the winner of the Wednesday night’s quarter-final tie between Liverpool and Porto, which takes place at the Estadio Dragao in Portugal.
