Eden Hazard penalty: Did you see the sneaky tactic Chelsea star used in Belgium goal?
EDEN HAZARD scored a penalty for Belgium against Russia tonight - and gave the keeper the eyes from the spot!
Euro 2020: Eden Hazard leads Belgium side for Russia match
Chelsea star Hazard was on top form for Roberto Martinez’s Belgium at the Heysel Stadium.
The playmaker converted a penalty just before half time to put the Red Devils 2-1 up in their Euro 2020 qualifier.
Hazard is Belgium’s regular set-piece take and stepped up to slot home in front of the home fans.
But it was his astute run-up which guaranteed the Blues star got on the scoresheet.
Hazard appeared fully composed when he side-footed his effort into the bottom-right corner of the net.
But upon replays it is clear that Hazard played it cool during his run up.
As these images show, Hazard takes his eye off the ball as he approaches the kick, in order to watch Russia goalkeeper Guilherme Marinato.
It meant that he was able to open his body up and side-foot to his right, catching Marinato off guard.
Euro 2020: Football expert tips Belgium to WIN tournament
Hazard barely celebrated the goal as he high-fived his team-mates and then walked back to the halfway line.
The goal comes as Chelsea sweat over the future of their star man.
Hazard is wanted at Real Madrid and his Stamford Bridge contract is up in 2020.
But Chelsea are unwilling to sell as they are under a transfer embargo for the next two windows.
It means Real may instead move for West Ham star Felipe Anderson.
Hazard has previously admitted he is keen to join Real and has made a “decision” over his future.
Chelsea could sell the Belgian for around £100m come the summer.
