11.06 UPDATE: Sunderland confirm Will Grigg deal
Sunderland have announced the signing of Will Grigg after receiving approval from the FA.
Grigg has signed a three-and-a-half-year contract at the Stadium of Light.
And the Black Cats have harked back to the infamous 'Will Grigg's on fire' chant to confirm the deal.
Sunderland will be hoping Grigg can rediscover his form and bag the goals needed to escape from League One.
11.00 UPDATE: Philippe Coutinho on Barcelona exit
Philippe Coutinho has refused to rule out quitting Barcelona after enduring a tough start to life at the Nou Camp.
Coutinho has largely failed to live up to expectations, prompting speculation he could return to the Premier League.
The Brazilian has now opted against dismissing rumours he might head to Chelsea or Manchester United.
"Nobody knows what will happen in the future," Coutinho said. "All I have in my head right now is to work hard."
10.25 UPDATE: Liverpool message to Lazar Markovic
Liverpool have finally offloaded Lazar Markovic - but they’re not bitter about his awful spell at Anfield.
Markovic made just 34 appearances after joining the Reds from Benfica in a £20m deal back in 2014.
However, Liverpool sent a kind message to the winger as he joined Fulham on a free transfer last night.
"Everyone at LFC wishes Lazar all the best at his new club," it read, after running through his time on Merseyside.
10.10 UPDATE: David de Gea deal wanted
Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants Old Trafford chiefs to put speculation over David de Gea’s future to bed.
"The club’s working on [contracts for] a few players, I don’t know how far but it’s a statement from the club we want to keep our best players," Solskjaer said, when asked if United can persuade De Gea to put pen to paper. "I hope so."
De Gea will be free to leave United on a free transfer in 2020 if he does not sign a new deal in Manchester.
Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain have been touted as potential destinations for the former Atletico Madrid goalkeeper.
09.52 UPDATE: Arsenal made Malcom decision
Arsenal opted against pursuing a loan deal for Malcom because of the fee Barcelona wanted for the Brazilian, it has been claimed.
Malcom was in Unai Emery's sights following the capture of fellow Nou Camp misfit Denis Suarez until the end of the season.
However, The Sun reckon Barcelona had placed too big a price on Malcom's head for Arsenal to justify taking him on a temporary basis.
Arsenal forked out £2m to loan in Suarez, with Emery having admitted funds were on the short side last month.
09.31 UPDATE: Inter Milan plan for Ivan Perisic
Arsenal transfer target Ivan Perisic will be slowly reintegrated at Inter Milan having demanded a January move.
Inter boss Luciano Spalletti, though, says the winger has acted in the right way throughout the transfer saga.
"Perisic? Roles need to to be redefined, the transfer window has closed and he's a professional," Spalletti said. "He'll come back to training and he'll be reintegrated slowly."
Arsenal made a late move for Perisic, but were unable to agree terms on a loan deal with Inter.
09.16 UPDATE: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on Anthony Martial
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has explained Manchester United’s decision to extend Anthony Martial’s deal until 2024.
"It’s a confirmation that we are happy, with him, we believe in him he’s got fantastic potential, he’s had ups and downs he’s been top scorer, hes’s been developing, as a young lad moving abroad it’s not easy but he knows he’s going to stay here for the coming future and I believe in him," Solskjaer said.
Solskjaer is tipped Martial, who has bagged eight times in the Premier League this term, to do big things.
"Very good, he’s a fantastic finisher, great ability, he’s young, he’s intelligent, knows he’s football, I’d like him to do a couple more runs in behind but I’ve not seen many player with the quick feet and the skills in the last third as he has so we’re gonna build his career and hopefully he’ll grab the chance with both feet," Solskjaer added.
08.51 UPDATE: Sunderland forced to wait
Sunderland are waiting to see if a deal for Will Grigg was pushed through in time, manager Jack Ross has revealed.
"It’s well documented that we had a bid accepted for Will Grigg very late last night, and my understanding is that it looks like that will all go ahead," Ross said.
"We are waiting for FA approval. Over the next hour or so we should get confirmation of that."
Sunderland had tracked Northern Ireland international Grigg throughout January and tried to arrange a late move with Wigan yesterday.
08.40 UPDATE: Man Utd order
Manchester United must appoint Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a permanent basis after putting speculation over Anthony Martial’s future to bed.
That is according to Ferdinand, who tweeted: "Transfer Deadline Day... good to see Martial sign a new contract at @ManUtd ... Ole next! #MUFC #Martial #TransferDeadlineDay."
In an accompanying video, Ferdinand said: "Yes, Anthony Martial! Tony, just signed for Man United, new deal, new deal on the table.
"50-something million - bargain now. It looks like a bargain. Next step, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Sign him up! Let’s go."
08.20 UPDATE: Late Chelsea exit
Chelsea recalled Michy Batshuayi from a loan spell at Valencia before sending the striker to Crystal Palace late last night.
With minutes to go before the January transfer window closed, Chelsea allowed Batshuayi to join London rivals Palace until the end of the season.
The Belgium international will be eager to prove himself in the Premier League having only got a fleeting chance at Stamford Bridge.
The switch is his third loan move since joining Chelsea in 2016, with a stint at Borussia Dortmund preceding his spell at Valencia.
08.00 UPDATE: Newcastle revelation
Newcastle wrapped up the £21m club-record signing of Miguel Almiron from Atlanta United yesterday.
However, the St James’ Park faithful will have to be patient because he cannot play this weekend.
Paraguay international Almiron is waiting on a work permit in the wake of his transfer to Newcastle.
And that means he will not feature as Rafa Benitez’s Magpies take on Tottenham on Saturday.
07.40 UPDATE: Leeds failure
Leeds United proved unable to get a deadline-busting deal for Daniel James over the line but it was not all their fault.
Last month Marcelo Bielsa and co. identified James as a target who could aid their bid for promotion from the Championship.
And they worked hard to put an agreement in place before last night’s 11pm deadline, only for the move to fall through.
BBC Sport reckon Leeds counted the cost of Swansea making a last-minute u-turn and deciding not to sell so they can try to convince James to sign a new contract.
