Leeds transfer news: Real Madrid ace set for medical ahead of January move
LEEDS UNITED are set to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Kiko Casilla, according to reports.
Derby: Frank Lampard says Leeds 'spy' incident is not right
Manager Marcelo Bielsa has been searching for a new goalkeeper since on-loan stopper Jamal Blackman returned to Chelsea after breaking his leg.
And The Yorkshire Evening Post say they have finally found their man and that Casilla will fly to England for a medical early next week.
Casilla, 32, is currently behind Thibaut Courtois and Keylor Navas in the pecking order at the Bernabeu.
Despite making 30 first-team appearances for the club, the 32-year-old is said to be keen to leave for more regular action.
Casilla is a one-cap Spanish international and was part of the Real Madrid squads which won the Champions League three time in succession.
And he is now said to be ready to move on for the good of his career.
Leeds only need to buy Casilla out of the final 18 months of his contract to sign him.
Bielsa was said to be lining up a move for Newcastle’s Karl Darlow but was reportedly put off by the club’s £4million asking price.
Fraser Forster was also liked with a move from Southampton but Casilla now looks set to become Leeds’ first signing of the January transfer window.
Bielsa is looking to strengthen to consolidate their position at the top of the Championship.
Having conceded only 28 goals all season, Leeds have one of the joint-second meanest defence in the second tier.
