Man Utd news: ‘It’s only a matter of time’ - Jose Mourinho given ultimatum
MANCHESTER UNITED’s home form must turn around NOW for Jose Mourinho’s top-four wish to have a chance of coming true.
That is according to pundit and former Sunderland and England left-back Michael Gray.
Mourinho last week claimed Manchester United can finish in the top four this season and believes they can break into the Champions League qualification places as early as January.
That is despite the Red Devils sitting seventh in the Premier League table, having lost four of their opening 13 matches of the campaign.
United have picked up just 11 points from their six league matches at Old Trafford this season.
Manchester United have got to come up with the goods and quick
And Gray says that must improve now or Jose Mourinho can wave goodbye to a top-four spot.
“It’s a matter of time before they have to turn it around Man United,” Gray said on talkSPORT.
“Their home form hasn’t been great. In the league - played six, won three, drawn two, lost one.
“If you want to finish in that top four, like he does, then they’ve got to get better at home.
“They’ve got to be bigger, they’ve got to be stronger, personalities.
“When you watch Man United now, I’m not the first person to say this, it’s slow.
“It’s awful to watch at times when you see what we’ve seen from Manchester United over the last 20 years, 25-30 years.
“So they’ve got to get back to the way that the teams at the top of the table are playing right now.
“Tottenham, Chelsea, Manchester City, Liverpool, even Arsenal are on an incredible run.
“Manchester United have got to come up with the goods and quick.”
United are in Champions League action this evening when Young Boys visit Old Trafford.
Victory would see them through to the knockout stages if Valencia do not beat Juventus in Turin.
