Cristiano Ronaldo: Juventus star better than Messi, Man Utd win proved one thing - Lippi
CRISTIANO RONALDO has been ranked above Lionel Messi as the world’s best player by Juventus legend Marcelo Lippi.
And Lippi has lauded Juventus for their 1-0 Champions League victory over Manchester United on Tuesday night.
The Old Lady acquired Ronaldo from La Liga giants Real Madrid back in the summer, paying them £105million to bring him to Turin.
Cristiano Ronaldo has helped Juventus enjoy a stunning start to the new campaign, winning 11 of their first 12 matches with Saturday’s 1-1 draw with Genoa the only blemish on their record.
And Lippi has lauded Ronaldo as the best player in the world, rating him above Barcelona’s Messi in the process.
He told Gianluca Di Marzio: “This Juve could win everything.
"In the past two years, after the two Champions League finals, Juve got close to the strongest and today, they're among the absolute favourites.
“Juventus deserve all the credit. The team has reached a high level self-esteem to which you could add Cristiano Ronaldo.
“There isn't anyone else that could increase a team's yield as much as Cristiano, he's the best player in the world.
“Juventus have always began their seasons to win everything, the feeling is that this is a year they could do it.
“Allegri? He's now one of the most important coaches in the world.”
Meanwhile, Lippi also praised Juventus’ 1-0 win over United on Tuesday.
The Serie A giants cruised to a crucial Champions League victory courtesy of Paulo Dybala’s early goal.
Jose Mourinho: Ronaldo is one of the best players of all time
And Lippi believes it proved the squad are strong enough to challenge on all fronts.
“Spectacular,” he said of the win.
“It's shown a great personality that confirms the whole squad's growth.”
That means Juventus boast a 100 per cent record in Europe, having already dismantled Valencia and Young Boys beforehand.
