Flower is growing on KP
KEVIN PIETERSEN has given his backing to England’s caretaker head coach Andy Flower just two months after recommending he be sacked.
Flower, currently in charge for the West Indies tour, is expected to apply for the position as England team director, which is due to be filled by April.
ECB chairman Giles Clarke denied yesterday he was against Flower’s promotion and said the players were responding well to his leadership.
“Andy is doing a very good job and what interests me is that KP [Pietersen] the other night said to me he thought Andy was doing a very good job too,” said Clarke.
“It is up to [England managing director] Hugh Morris and his advisers to recommend someone to the board and Andy is impressing a lot of people.”
