Tyson Fury has used wife Paris to mock Joe Joyce as 'The Juggernaut' chases a world heavyweight title shot. There have been calls for the Olympic silver medalist to challenge Fury for his WBC crown following his stunning win over Joseph Parker last month, where he KO'd his rival in the 11th round with a powerful left hook.

'The Gypsy King' insisted he was retired following his own KO win over Dillian Whyte at Wembley in April, a claim he later doubled down on Piers Morgan: Uncensored. He even promised to pay the TV presenter £1 million if he went back on his word.

But he soon retracted his pledge to walk away, calling out Anthony Joshua for a bout in Cardiff on December 3. However, after weeks of negotiations, last week both parties declared the clash was off, with Matchroom's Eddie Hearn and Queensbury's Frank Warren blaming each other for the failure to reach an agreement.

WBC champion Fury has said he'll still be fighting at the Principality Stadium on that date though, telling fans he'll reveal his opponent in a matter of days. A clash with German veteran Mahmoud Charr or a trilogy fight with Derek Chisora appear the favoured options, but Joyce, 37, has also put himself in the frame.

But in an interview with the Behind the Gloves podcast, Fury suggested Joyce needed to build his profile first, joking: "Can he beat the Gypsy King? Probably not, but I'd like to see it one day. I said to Joe, 'You've got like 150,000 followers, you need to build your profile'. My wife has a million, so she's more popular than the top ten heavyweights."

The Morecambe man is clearly referring to Instagram, where he himself boasts 5.7 million followers. Joyce does actually a bigger following than the one quoted by Fury, with his account tracked by 178,000 users.

After his win over Parker, the WBO interim champion initially called out Oleksandr Usyk, who has returned to Ukraine after his win over Anthony Joshua: “Let’s go Usyk, come on, let’s get it on," he said. "I’m very feel, let’s go."

Usyk however, has called for a fight against . But iff the WBO orders him to face Joyce next he will be forced to either defend or vacate his titles.
