The Paralympian, who took part on the BBC series this year, returned for the grand finale and host Claudia Winkleman was quick to comment on his nomination.
She then went on to tell him that no matter the outcome, he had already won in the eyes of everyone at Strictly.
“You’re nominated for Sports Personality of the Year tomorrow,” Claudia noted.
Nodding, Jonnie quipped: “I’ll probably be hungover,” hinting that he would be having fun at the Strictly wrap party.

Claudia, 45, insisted: “He won’t be he’s a sportsman,” before continuing: “Whatever happens, from all of us at Strictly, you’ve won. You have. I don’t care who they announce.”
The 24-year-old faces tough competition from the likes of Lewis Hamilton, Anthony Joshua and Sir Mo Farah at the star-studded ceremony in Liverpoool tonight.
It comes after Jonnie surprised fans of the show with his shock transformation last night.
The sportsman sent viewers into a frenzy as it was revealed he’d chopped off his long blonde locks and now sported a short ‘do.
