LIFESTYLE: The Hotel Inspector
Alex Polizzi continues her mission to change the face of Britain’s hotels.
The industry expert whose family owns the renowned Rocco Forte group is hellbent on helping those whose businesses are in dire need of a makeover and whose fortunes look bleak.
This week Polizzi is in Tewkesbury, offering much-needed advice to New Yorker Ralph Parisi and his English partner Sarah Pountain (right), whose pretty boutique townhouse hotel, as described on their website, desperately needs a facelift.
But it’s not just the hotel that needs help; the owners are on the verge of splitting up under the pressure.
The couple bought the Jessop House Hotel, an eight-bedroom establishment situated just yards from the town’s famous abbey, three years ago but things have gone from bad to worse for them.
Tired furniture and threadbare carpets are just two of many things that need replacing but it appears Parisi opposes a refurbishment. However, Polizzi has a few tricks up her sleeve to make him grasp just what needs to be done to give the hotel a crucial revamp.
