Brenda Blethyn is spotted filming new series of Vera

ITV's Vera has put out a call for new cast members. The crime drama, which is currently filming its final series, is looking to hire three teenage boys, a postman and six women.

Fans were delighted to see star of the show Brenda Blethyn and other members of the cast on Monday, when they were spotted filming in Cambois and on Blyth beach. The ITV team will be filming further scenes in the area on Friday, May 10, with a number of supporting roles up for grabs.

Talent agency Ne.14tv put out the casting call on behalf of the ITV crime drama. They shared a full list of all the opportunities up for grabs.

The agency explained that filming would take part on May 10 for a 8am-6pm filming schedule. The show are offering roles for two teenage boys (17+) who must be able to bring their own bikes to the shoot.

Another teenage boy (17+) is also needed, with their own scooter, as well as an adult to play a postman and six adult woman to be cast in passer by type roles.

They explained that members of the public can apply by simply emailing dee@ne14.tv with a clear headshot, full length photo, confirmation of availability, location and contact details.

Having played no-nonsense sleuth DCI Vera Stanhope for 13 years, Brenda is now stepping back in front of the camera for a final time as her legendary alter ego, with it being confirmed last week that the two new feature-length episodes will be the show's last.

However, before filming for the final few episodes has even finished, fans are already speculating for who might replace her as they hope for the much-loved show to continue.

Posting on social media, a few fans have suggested that Happy Valley's Sarah Lancashire dons the trenchcoat instead.

Not quite ready to let go of the series and posting to a Facebook group, one user said: "I think Vera should carry on. Someone should come in to take over and Vera shows them the ropes.

They become close and trust each other and then Vera knows she can happily retire knowing her work will carry on in good hands."

Vera episodes are available to watch on ITVX.
