The Traitors star shares key tactic Faithfuls are 'missing' as team set for huge win
The Traitors is about to conclude its second series, but Amanda Lovett from series one is still regarded as an all-time favourite.
The Traitors: Former contestant Amanda on how they only recruit men
The Traitors' series one star Amanda Lovett has shared her view amid claims this year's stars are "problematic" as there were no female traitors. Amanda paved the way for the contestants after becoming a successful and popular traitor last year.
In series one, there were several men and women who made up the traitors before Wilf Webster became the last one standing. However, series two has seen men recruiting more men, with he only female traitor banished by her fellow "villains" at the start of the show.
It's an issue even host Claudia Winkleman has picked up on after she admitted on BBC’s Woman’s Hour earlier this month the series was "problematic". The presenting legend was asked why the remaining all-male traitors have constantly been "murdering" their female colleagues.
There was also an ageism debate as many of the older participants were removed at the start of the series. Claudia confessed: "I would like to sit down and have quite a few conversations about it.
"I mean, lots of people haven’t and they’re listening now and they go ‘Oh, this sounds all right’ so I’m not going to say any names, but yeah, it’s problematic."
On Wednesday, Amanda sat down with This Morning hosts Dermot O'Leary and Siân Welby to discuss the current series, which will conclude on Friday.
While comparing this year's stars to last year's, she mentioned how the traitors had "missed opportunities" by selecting an all-male group.
"What are they getting wrong this year?" Dermot asked the experienced traitor.
"Well, the traitors are fighting against each other. They're not fighting against the faithfuls, you know.

"They're just recruiting other traitors all the time, they've missed an opportunity with Diane [Carson].
"My gosh, what a strong woman. I know she didn't want to be a traitor but she's kept such a good secret in there.
"I think they just... recruit men and someone always wants to be the 'chief,' don't they?"
The current traitors remaining on the show are Harry Clark, Andrew Jenkins and Ross Carson.
When the first two were asked by Claudia who they'd picked as their new recruit on Friday, she made a jibe at them for their choice of another man over the remaining women.
After they revealed Ross had been their choice, Claudia couldn't help but remark: "Oh, another man. It's just like the olden days."
Harry then explained that it was a tactic to recruit Ross as their scapegoat and that it was a part of their game plan.
The Traitors continues on Wednesday at 9pm on BBC One, while This Morning airs weekdays from 10am on ITV.
