Coronation Street romance twist 'sealed' for Bethany Platt as Damon Hay returns

Coronation Street’s Damon Hay (played by Ciaran Griffiths) has made it no secret that his return to Weatherfield is all to do with winning back the heart of Sarah Platt (Tina O’Brien). Last year, the pair had an affair as she cheated on her husband Adam Barlow (Sam Robertson).

He was run out of town by Adam without realising Sarah was pregnant with his baby, which she sadly miscarried. Not scared of Adam, Damon decided to ignore his threats and come back to the cobbles.

It’s not just Damon who has re-entered Sarah’s life as her daughter Bethany Platt (Lucy Fallon) has also come after being away in London. As Damon and Bethany had a brief interaction, it was clear they didn’t see eye to eye.

However, their swipes at one another could be hiding something more as soap star Tina O’Brien explained. Speaking exclusively to Express.co.uk and other media publications, she said: “I think she’ll [Beth] be quite outspoken about the fact that Damon is probably bad news.

“However, when she gets to know him, I wonder if Bethany might end up getting charmed by Damon. You don’t know because Bethany, back in the day, had a thing for Callum when Sarah was going out with him, so you never know.”

When Bethany returned, she wasted no time in rekindling with Daniel Osbourne (Robert Mallard) and quickly jumped into bed with him, much to the dismay of Daisy Midgeley (Charlotte Jordan).

There was one scene where fans of the ITV soap saw Beth have an ominous phone call with a mysterious person.

The conversation didn’t seem to go down well as whoever she was speaking to decided to hang up on her.

Viewers were quick to speculate who could be the person on the other end of the phone, with many thinking she and Damon returning at the same time could be more than a coincidence.

Actress Lucy Fallon teased there’s some drama ahead as she touched on the reason behind her return.

She said: “She’s basically being forced to come back, I don’t know if I’m allowed to say what it is.

“But, there is something that has happened in London that has kind of forced her to come back but she’s not revealing that straight away. She’s being a bit secretive about why she has come back.”

Does her return have anything to do with her mum’s former beau?
