‘You're tight!’ James Martin snaps back at co-star over recipe criticism
JAMES MARTIN hit back at an ITV presenter after they took a cheeky swipe at one of his cake recipes on This Morning.
James Martin mocked by Holly for jam content in his cake
The celebrity chef James Martin cooked up a storm in the ITV kitchen during a recent appearance on This Morning. Hosts Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield observed closely as the TV cook prepared two Victorian sponge cakes, ahead of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, which is set to take place in June. In commemoration to the royal, James whipped up “the nation’s favourite” pudding. However, after one of his co-presenters playfully criticised the recipe, James couldn’t hold his tongue.

Speaking about the cake’s filler, James explained: “Now, it depends on what you want to put in here, raspberry jam [or] strawberry jam.”
He continued: “As I said, it's totally up to you, but you've got to put plenty in.”
Viewers watched as the celebrity baker added a huge dollop of jam on top of the sponge base and then proceeded to scoop more out of the jar until it was empty.
Holly quipped: “You’re putting a lot of jam on there, James.”

After pausing for a moment or two, James snapped back: “You can put less on it if you're tight.”
The chef and his co-hosts then burst out into fits of laughter over James’ defensiveness towards the cake recipe.
She giggled: “And you’re putting cream in there too.”
The ITV host wondered whether whipped cream would be good enough for the Queen but the 49-year-old chef responded: “Looking at the Queen’s chef, butter Cream is one that they use.”
The ITV cook has become part of the furniture on This Morning, having appeared as a celebrity chef on numerous occasions giving viewers a step-by-step to some of his tastiest recipes.
In another episode of the show, James opened up about one of his food allergies which shocked both Phillip and Holly.
Taking on the classic Caesar salad, the 49-year-old left his co-hosts feeling rather disappointed.

As James prepared the dish, Holly joked: “It’s not a salad, is it?”
While the restaurant owner playfully snapped: “It isn’t a salad yet but it’s getting there.”
As he added the chicken to the mix, the TV chef made a start on the mayonnaise.
He explained: “On with the mayonnaise, it's really straightforward to make your own mayonnaise.”
“I’m allergic to mayonnaise so I’ve got to make my own mayonnaise,” he revealed.
Holly wondered “Are you?” before Phillip asked: “What are you allergic to?”
“It’s an acid they have in mayonnaise and kiwi fruit,” the star replied.
He continued: “I’m really badly allergic to it so I make my own.”
