GMB: Piers Morgan apologises after arriving at interview late
Piers Morgan, 54, and Susanna Reid, 48, were set to interview England cricket star Ben Stokes on Good Morning Britain today in light of his success at the Cricket World Cup at the weekend.
Ahead of Ben’s appearance on the ITV news show, Piers was ecstatic he was going to meet one of his sporting heroes.
After it was announced Ben was waiting in the wings, Piers couldn’t help but sneak off to go and greet the cricketer back stage.
Although the meeting was supposed to happen during an advertisement break, Piers failed to keep a check on the time and left Susanna stranded ahead of an upcoming debate the pair were supposed to chair.
Piers Morgan, where are you?
Susanna explained: “Piers is just meeting Ben Stokes behind the scenes. I’ve never seen Piers as excited to meet a guest.
“Even when he’s done his interviews with President Trump, he’s never been this excited."
“Piers Morgan, where are you,” the host asked as the camera went backstage.
“Excuse me, where are they?” Susanna remarked as Piers and Ben were nowhere to be seen. “Oh, there he is.
“Are you coming back to join us Piers Morgan or have you and Ben Stokes got a separate side project you’re working on?”
As Piers finally returned to the set to begin the debate, he explained: “I had to go and meet Ben Stokes.”

“Far more important than anything else you’ve got,” the presenter jokingly remarked before greeting the guest who were sat ready to be interview.
“Morning ladies. My apologises," Piers said as he shook their hands.
“When you’ve never meet someone and they’re like a hero, you just want to go and say hello to them and then they get talking and you think, ‘You know what, actually I’d just rather stay in here,'” the host opined.
On yesterday’s show, Piers was told he should be taken off television when speaking with a guest about the inclusion of plus-sized models in the media.
Plus size model Angelina Duplisea recently starred in the new music video for Miley Cyrus’ new single Mother’s Daughter.
GMB: Piers Morgan apologises after guest swears live on air
As Piers tried to explain her appearance in the video could be “glorifying” a “dangerous” body type, Angelica hit back.
“Honestly, if you’re concerned about people being obese and representing something bad, you would take yourself off the air because you’re not exactly slim yourself.”
Piers remarked: “I’m not morbidly obese,” after comparing his BMI to the guests.
“You’re totally entitled to throw the jibes back at me,” the host told Angelica, with the guest continuing to state: “You’re still fat.”
The debate ended is a reputable manner, as Piers commented the guest by telling Angelica: “You give it back as much as you take it, I respect that.”
