Barefoot and flip-flop drivers pose deadly risk
THE hot summer has led to a rise in people driving barefoot, a survey revealed yesterday.
Nearly one in five motorists admitted they drove barefoot or in flip flops in July – up four per cent in a year, Sainsbury’s Car Insurance found.
Peter Rodger, chief examiner at the Institute of Advanced Motorists, said flip-flops were a particular risk. “Your foot can slide out of the flip-flop, particularly while you are braking, and therefore slide off the pedal. It is also inadvisable to drive barefoot,” he said.
