SALT is being used as a revolutionary treatment for asthma.
Britain’s first “salt cave” offers sufferers the chance to alleviate symptoms of the chronic breathing disorder without drugs.
Microscopic particles of dry rock salt are circulated in a chamber. Experts believe inhaling them helps clear the airways of mucus.
The treatment known as Halotherapy is expected to become available on the NHS.
Dr Tamas Todosi, medical director of the clinic in Wandsworth, south London, said: “This is a drug-free way of improving the symptoms of asthma.”
Tish Webster, 28, a yoga teacher, said: “Normally I would take antihistamines daily but I haven’t taken any since going to the salt cave.”
