'Dozens missing' as boat capsizes
At least two people were killed and dozens of others were missing when an overcrowded boat carrying mostly women and children capsized in a river in eastern Nepal.
More than 50 people were believed to be on board the boat and only 14 were rescued from the Saptakosi river, about 250 miles (400km) south-east of the capital Katmandu, government official Durga Bhandari said.
Mr Bhandari said two bodies were pulled from the water.
Police and local fishermen were searching for survivors but fog and cold weather was making their work difficult, he added.
Most of the people on the boat were women and children, said Mr Bhandari.
He said it was unclear how many people were actually on board because survivors were giving conflicting reports.
Travel by boat has become necessary because many roads and bridges in the area were damaged by flooding during the monsoon season.
