GERMAN terror forces have arrested a suspected high-ranking Islamic State jihadi who is believed to have been planning an attack on a football match.

A 24-year-old asylum seeker was arrested in Mutterstadt, in Mainz, according to a spokesman for the Interior Ministry in the region.
The suspected jihadi, said to be a "high-ranking representative of the militant terror group ISIS”, was reportedly planning an attack on a football stadium.

The start of the German Bundesliga season kicks off on August 26 and the spokesman revealed there had been plans for an attack.
He said: "Indications that for the start of the season the Bundesliga something was planned."
But it was not revealed which stadium was being targeted by the twisted terror cult.
Special forces tracked the suspect down after being tipped-off by a prison inmate in the nearby North Rhine-Westphalia.

The arrest comes amid fears of more terror attacks in Germany following a series of strikes in the past month.
