Putin's mission to destroys ISIS rages on: Russia obliterates 70 targets in just 24 hours
RUSSIA has obliterated more than 70 Islamic State (ISIS) targets in the past 24 hours alone as it continues its blitzing crusade against the evil terror group, a defence ministry spokesman announced today.
Russia has been conducting daily airstrikes in Syria
Over the past day Russian planes are said to have conducted 53 bombing runs against ISIS, hitting a total of 72 targets - mostly weapons and ammunition depots.
But the US has accused Russia of only looking to prop up Syrian President Bashar al-Assad's regime by bombing Syria - rather than tackling ISIS.
The Prime Minister of Russia rubbished such claims and retaliated by branding the US "short-sighted and weak" - just days after Russian President Vladimir Putin blasted America's "unconstructive" stance toward beating the terror group.
ISIS have control of large swathes of land in both Syria and Iraq
The news of the latest bombings by Russia in Syria came from defence ministry spokesman Igor Konashenkov.
He went on to dismiss Western allegations that the Russian campaign has mostly targeted other groups opposing Assad instead of ISIS.
He said it was striking facilities preparing for suicide attacks, in addition to going after other terrorist targets.
Mr Konashenkov told reporters: "I don't understand how terrorists could be divided into good and bad ones."
He also dismissed allegations that Russian planes are hitting civilians, calling it "sheer nonsense."
