Vladimir Putin has spent more than £100m on luxury private jets

Images taken from inside the planes show a luxury interior which features white leather chairs, king sized beds and wood panels with gold trim.

The private jet also has other features that would not go amiss in a five-star hotel including conference rooms, a gym and well-equipped kitchens.

A blogger called Kungurov who was handed the images by a contact in Russia's Ministry of Defence was furious at the money spent on the jets.

He said: "Our self-proclaimed Tsar has decided to give himself a gift on his 15th anniversary of assuming the crown by whipping his slaves into paying for two luxurious IL-96 airliners for him."

The walls of each are private jet are decorated with precious paintings.

While both planes are not ready to take to the air just yet they are expected to be delivered by the end of this year.

The pictures emerged as the country has been spiralling into debt as it struggles to cope with Western-imposed sanctions, with its currency plummeting to record lows earlier this year.

These were handed to Mr Putin's regime after Moscow's annexation of Crimea and their involvement in the Ukraine crisis.
